Aluminium Alloy 2618A ( Aluminum 2618) is a high strength aluminium alloy. Alloy 2618 (2618A) has good machinability and is fair resistance to atmospheric attack. Aluminium Alloy 2618A (Aluminum 2618) is typically used in aerospace and defence components.It is commonly used for pistons and rotating aircraft parts due to it's ability to work in higher temperature applications. 2618 is also used in high performance autosport applications. AL 2618 has excellent machining characteristics. The heat treated (aged) condition will allow machining to a smoother finish than is the case for annealed or water quenched conditions
2618A aluminum alloy material is an Al-Cu-Mg-Fe-Ni series alloy that can be strengthened by heat treatment. Due to its low silicon content, its thermal strength is relatively high, and it has high plasticity in hot state. The corrosion resistance of the alloy is acceptable. Machinability is good. For the manufacture of internal combustion engine pistons and complex forgings that work at high temperatures, such as compressor impellers, blower impellers, etc.
