Translate the application into material priorities
A marine hull cares about seawater corrosion and welding. A CNC part cares about machining stability. A decorative panel cares about finish and flatness. These are different buying problems.
| Application | Priority | Typical alloy route |
|---|---|---|
| Marine | Saltwater, welding, certificates | 5083, 5086, 5052 |
| Aerospace | Strength, fatigue, traceability | 2024, 7075, 7050 |
| Automotive | Formability and weight reduction | 5052, 5754, 6061 |
| Construction | Weathering, finish, flatness | 3003, 5052, 6063 |
Ask process questions early
Will the material be welded, bent, machined, anodized, painted or exposed outdoors? Each answer can change the recommended alloy and temper.
