Where 7075, 7050 and 2024 fit
7075 is widely requested for high-strength machined parts. 7050 is often considered for thicker aerospace plate where stress corrosion resistance and toughness matter. 2024 is a classic aerospace alloy with good fatigue performance.
| Alloy | Typical reason | Buyer check |
|---|---|---|
| 7075-T651 | High strength machined plate | Flatness, thickness, stress relief |
| 7050-T7451 | Thick aerospace plate | Specification, UT, traceability |
| 2024-T351 | Fatigue-sensitive aerospace parts | Temper and certification route |
Machining stability matters
For CNC work, plate stress condition can be as important as nominal strength. Buyers should confirm temper, cutting allowance and final part tolerance before comparing quotes.
High-strength 7xxx alloys are generally not chosen for welded structures. If welding is required, discuss 6061, 6082 or 5xxx alternatives.
